Crisp apple slices coated in cinnamon sugar, cooked in the air fryer for a quick, comforting dessert treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji work great)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • Cooking spray
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar or honey drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Rinse apples, dry them, then slice into ¼-inch rings and remove the cores with a small cutter.
  3. Pat apple rings dry on a towel to help the coating adhere; if a ring browns while working, brush lightly with lemon juice.
  4. Set up three shallow bowls: mix flour with a pinch of salt in the first, whisk egg and milk together in the second until combined and slightly frothy, and combine breadcrumbs with sugar and cinnamon in the third.
  5. Line a tray with parchment and place it nearby for the coated rings.
  6. Tap the breadcrumb mixture lightly to remove clumps and improve adhesion.
  7. Dip each apple ring into the flour, shake off excess, dip into the egg wash, then press into the cinnamon-breadcrumb mixture to coat evenly.
  8. If the crumb mixture is too dry to stick, spritz it lightly with milk before coating.
  9. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  10. Arrange the coated rings in a single layer in the basket with space between them, working in batches if necessary.
  11. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6–8 minutes, flipping the rings halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  12. Let the rings rest about 1 minute after cooking to finish and avoid steaming in the basket.
  13. Transfer rings to a plate and dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with honey before serving.

Notes

Pat apple slices dry before dipping for crispier rings., Use cinnamon sugar lightly to avoid a clumpy coating., These are best enjoyed warm the same day you make them.
